The Lord is a Refuge

Joel 3:16-17- "The Lord roars from Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth tremble. But the Lord is a refuge for His people and a stronghold to the sons of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. So Jerusalem will be holy, and strangers will pass through it no more."

    1. A book I was reading was bemoaning the fact that so many Christians ignore the "minor" prophets, so I thought I'd read one during my quiet time. The first short one I found was Joel, so that was the one I read, and it was incredibly interesting. That verse got me so much that I had to come back and read it again the next night, since it tied in perfectly with Gal. 5, the other passage I read.

Since Galatians 4-5 proclaim us to be Abraham's seed, then the promise applies to us also. At the same time, Joel is an incredible book in regard to Millenial and Armegeddon prophecy. I would recommend reading it sometime!

  2. Alright! I'll try it out soon. That sounds like you - someone says something, so you do it to prove them wrong. Well, I'm glad you did post it - it is very powerful! Thanks again.

    1. I wasn't trying to prove him wrong, because he's right. Many Christians do ignore those books of the Bible. I was just trying to do my part to stop a bad trend, and saw something new! I'm glad you found it powerful.

    2. But you're right. That would be just like me! Man, these people know me so well... :)

  3. Yes, people tend to ignore the smaller books of the Bible (not just the minor prophets). I like it when pastor or other people (like Stephen yesterday) read from smaller books, like 3 John or Jude.

Well, I think since we share the same argumentative talent (or so you say), we can kinda read each others minds when it comes to arguing a little.

    1. Yeah, usually we get out favorite books and passages, and preach on those time and time again. It's not often you hear sermons from Habakkuk or Ecclesiastes! Yet it's just as inspired as Colossians!

    2. That's true. Everyone has the feeling of "Ecclesiastes is meaningless". :) kinda a joke, but still. Speaking of Ecclesiastes, I'm working on a future blog post in Ecclesiastes.

    3. Ha, ha, very funny. You're right though, almost every Christian I know ignores the book of Ecclesiastes. It's become one of my favorite books of the Bible since I listened to a series of sermons on the topic by my personal favorite pastor, Pastor Scott Kay. I look forward to seeing your post!

  4. I'm glad! It'll be about a month though, being that I have to finish Proverbs and do my other stuff, and then do my first post I have planned, but then I may post it.

Ecclesiastes is an, interesting book. It can be confusing sometimes, but it's really good, too.
