I thought I would re-post this quote that I put up some months ago. It is one of the best quotes I've ever read from John Piper (and that's saying something, 'cause he's got a lot!). It
made me stop and think for a moment about how central Jesus Christ
should be in our emotions, thoughts, attitudes, and actions.
"The critical question for our generation- and for every generation- is this: If you could have heaven, with no sickness, and with all the friends you ever had on earth, and all the food you ever liked, and all the leisure activities you ever enjoyed, and all the natural beauties you ever saw, all the physical pleasures you ever tasted, and no human conflict or any natural disasters, could you be satisfied with heaven, if Christ was not there?"
Be honest with yourself when you answer that question.

Wow. I completely agree that this is a critical question for all of us! Thank you for posting this again (I think I missed it the first time). This is something that needs to be repeated every-so-often to keep you after Christ. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It is one of the most important questions one can ask yourself, because it reveals your true motive for falling Jesus. Is it out of love for Jesus, or love for the benefits He brings?
DeleteExactly! And even then, following Jesus can bring some inconveniences. And then, why do you love Jesus that much? There are a lot of questions in this; hard to answer questions.
ReplyDeleteTrue. I see you decided to call yourself by your name now!
DeleteYes, and am happy it provides a link to my blog. How do I set a pic for myself? I'd prefer not to have the same pic as Corey. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know. Mine popped up naturally, first with m Blogger profile, then with my G+ account. I don't know how you can do it with a wordpress account. Wish I could help you, but I haven't done anything with WordPress!
ReplyDeleteAlright, I don't know how to (I've played around a little) and I can't figure out. Anyway. I guess I'll just be the oddly-shaped-head character.
